What is a Wiki?

A wiki is a collaborative authoring tool that allows you to contribute and modify one or more pages of course related materials. A wiki provides an area where users can collaborate on content. Users within a course can create and edit wiki pages that pertain to the course or a course group.

Unfamiliar with wikis? View the Wikis in Plain English video to learn more about wikis.

Creating a Wiki Page

With a wiki you can create a wiki page, edit any user's page, link to an existing wiki page in another page, and view the wiki history.

To create or edit the wiki, navigate to your course's wiki. Depending on how your instructor set up the course, there may be a link to the wiki in the Course Menu or within a Content Area.

At the top of the wiki page, click Create Wiki Page.

Enter a title for your wiki page. Use the Text/Content Editor to create your wiki page, which may contain text, images, video, etc.

Once you have finished click Submit at the top or bottom of the page.

For more information watch the Create and Edit Wiki Pages tutorial video.

Editing a Wiki Page

To edit a wiki page, locate the page you wish to edit using the page layout on the right side of the wiki.

Select the wiki page you wish to edit and click Edit Wiki Content.

Use the Text/Content Editor to edit your wiki page, which may contain text, images, video, etc.

Once you have finished click Submit at the top or bottom of the page.
