There is currently an issue recording from your webcam in the new myLesley/Blackboard text/content editor. However, we have a workaround that will allow you to create a webcam recording and post it in your myLesley course. No other aspects of using Kaltura are affected by this issue.

The workaround has two steps:

Create your webcam recording in Kaltura My Media

To begin, go to your Kaltura My Media. You may access your My Media from the myLesley Home tab. In the New Lesley Services module, click on Kaltura My Media.

to access your kaltura my media, click on the kaltura my media icon in the new lesley services module

This will bring you to your Kaltura My Media. Click on the Add New button to open a menu.

click the add new button

From the menu, select Webcam Recorder.

select webcam recorder

This will launch the Record Media tool. You will be prompted to allow Kaltura to access your camera and microphone. Click Allow.

You will now see your camera on your screen. To change your camera/audio settings, click on the Settings button (gear icon).

Once you have finished recording you may view your recording. You may then select Use This to keep your recording, Record Again to re-record, or Download a Copy to download a copy of your video.

Once you click Use This, you will be prompted to enter your video details including the video name and (optional) description and tags. Once you have finished, click Save at the bottom of the page.

The video will be added to your Kaltura My Media.

Post your recording in your course

Next, you will add the video into your course. Navigate to your myLesley course and locate the place in your course where you wish to upload your video. From the text editor, click the Add Content button.

Scroll down to the Additional Tools section and select Kaltura Media.

in the additional tools section, select kaltura media

This will take you to your Kaltura My Media area. The MyMedia area is where all of your Kaltura videos are stored. From here, select the video you just recorded. This should be the first video on your list. Click the </> Embed button to add it to your course.

Your video will be added to your course. Click Submit to save your changes.
