About Kaltura Video Quiz
Kaltura Media's Interactive Video Quiz tool seamlessly embeds questions at any point in a video. Instructors easily add their own questions through a user-friendly interface. These questions are attached to the video and ‘travel’ with it wherever it is embedded or presented. As viewers watch the video, the questions will appear at the chosen points. The video continues after each question is answered. Flexible settings allow creators to choose whether viewers can repeat sections, skip questions, revise answers, get hints, and discover the correct answers, allowing the Interactive Video Quiz to be used to increase engagement, test knowledge and retention, gather data, and more.
Launch Video Quiz Tool
To create or edit a video quiz, go to your Kaltura My Media.
To access your My Media, click on the Tools link in the Global Navigation menu. This will bring you to the Tools area. Select Kaltura My Media.
If prompted to allow Kaltura authorization, click Allow. You should only need to do this once.
Once you are in your My Media, click on the Add New button at the top of the page and select Video Quiz from the drop-down menu.
You will be brought to the Media Selection screen. You may either upload a video by clicking on the Upload Media button or select an existing video from your My Media library by clicking on the Select button to the right of your video.
Creating and Editing a Quiz
Once you have uploaded or selected your media, you will be brought to the Quiz Editor. Here you may manage your quiz settings and add questions to your quiz.
Quiz Settings
In the Quiz panel, to the right of your video, you can edit the Quiz Details, Scores, and Experience.
Details
Click on the Details option to change your quiz name, display a welcome message, allow students to download a copy of all questions, and instructions.
Scores
Click on the Scores option to allow multiple attempts (the default is a single attempt), show scores, and include correct/incorrect answers upon test completion.
Experience
Click on the Experience option to allow students to change their answers before submitting, allow/prohibit students to skip questions, or seek forward.
Add Quiz Questions
You may now add questions to your video quiz. To begin adding questions, start playing the video or click on the timeline to advance to a later point in the video. Pause where you want a question to be added.
You will be prompted to choose a question type:
Multiple Choice:
Enter your question the Question Field at the top of the screen. Add at least two multiple choice answers in the appropriate fields. Be sure to enter the correct answer in the first field. To add more answers, click on the + icon. To shuffle the order of the answers (recommended) click on the Shuffle button, located to the left of the question. You also have the option to add a hint to your question, which will allow students to see a hint to help guide them towards the correct answer. To add a hint, click on the Hint button.
Once you have entered and shuffled the answers, click Save to add the question to the quiz.

Enter your question the Question Field at the top of the screen. To add a hint, click on the Hint button.

Open Question:
Enter your open-ended question the Question Field at the top of the screen. To add a hint, click on the Hint button.
Click Save to add the question to the quiz.
Reflection Point:
A reflection point pauses the video and displays text for the students to read and reflect upon. Enter your question the Question Field.
Click Save to add the question to the quiz.
After each question is added to the quiz, a question icon appears below the video in the timeline. You can click on this icon to return to the question editor at any time during the editing process.
Preview Quiz
Once you have added all the questions and completed the quiz you have the option of previewing it or going back to your media library. To preview the quiz, click on the Preview button that appears below the Quiz Editor.
This will open the preview. You may click through the quiz see how the quiz will appear to users.
Once you have finished creating your quiz, click the Done button.
Adding a Video Quiz to a myLesley Course
You may add your video quiz to your course using the Kaltura Media Mashup Tool.
From within a Content Area (ex your Week 3 folder), click on the Assessments menu at the top of the page. This will open a menu. Select Kaltura Video Quiz.
This will take you to your My Media area. Select an existing video quiz or create a new one.
You will then be prompted to give your quiz a name and description. In the Display of Grades area, select the points possible and how to display the grades (ex score, percentage, complete/incomplete).
Once you have finished, click Submit at the bottom of the page.
Taking an Interactive Video Quiz (Student)
To take an interactive video quiz, click on the quiz posted in your course.
A Welcome message will appear on the screen. Click on the Download button to download a copy of the quiz questions. Click on the Full Screen button to make the video full screen. Click Continue to begin the quiz.
The video will begin. Please note that when the quiz is in progress, you cannot move the scrubber or perform any player actions.
At the first location point, the video will stop and the first quiz question appears on the player screen. Answer the question and click Continue to go back to the video. If your instructor has created hints for your questions, you may click on the Hint button. If allowed, you my click Skip For Now to skip the question and come back to it.
Once you have answered all of your questions the Completed screen will appear. Click Review to review and/or change your answers. Click Submit to submit your quiz.

Viewing Interactive Quiz Results
As students complete their quiz, the grades will be sent to the myLesley Grade Center. See myLesley Grade Center and Grading for more information.
Students may view their quiz grades in their My Grades. See Viewing Grades in myLesley for more information.
