How do I apply for a Parent Plus Loan?

Are you a parent of a current or accepted student and trying to apply for a Parent PLUS Loan? Please see the following instructions.

1. Log in to using your FSA ID. If you don't have an FSA ID, you'll need to create one.

2. Select "Apply for a Direct PLUS Loan."

3. Click "Start" on the Direct PLUS Loan Application for Parents.

4. Complete the application as directed. Take care to input the following information as indicated when prompted:

Enter your child's information.

Enter the amount you'd like to borrow.

*** Do not select “I don’t know the amount I want to borrow”. ***

Enter your loan's start and end dates.

*** Note: We must split loans evenly between the semester/terms included in your loan period. ***

 For example: a $3,000 loan with a 09/2022 start date and 05/2023 end date divides evenly between 2 semesters - fall and spring - at $1,500 each semester. If you'd like your loan to be only applied to one semester, please note that in your application as follows:

  • Fall Only: 09/year -12/year
  • Spring Only: 01/year – 05/year
  • Summer Only: 05/year – 08/year
