Sharing Overview
Any VoiceThread you create is private by default. You decide who gets to see your VoiceThread and what level of permissions they have: view only, comment, or edit. You can give these permissions to specific individuals or to groups of people.

Access the Sharing Area
To share your VoiceThread, go to the Sharing Area. The Sharing Area may be accessed from several places within VoiceThread.
From the Home Page
From the Home Page, locate the VoiceThread you want to share and click on the Menu icon in the bottom right corner. This will open a menu. Click on the Share button (arrow icon).
From the Create or Edit Page
From the Create or Edit page, click on the Share button at the top of the page.
From an Open VoiceThread
From within a VoiceThread, click on the menu in the top right corner of the page. This will open a menu. Select Share.
Publish a VoiceThread
The quickest and easiest way to ensure that your participants can view and comment on a VoiceThread is to make it public. Users must still have the link to the VoiceThread in order to view or comment on it.
To publish your VoiceThread, navigate to the sharing area and click on the Permissions menu at the top of the page. Select the level of access you want your participants to have:
- Anyone with link can view
- Anyone with link can comment
Once you have published your VoiceThread you can easily share it with others with a link or by embedding it on a website.
Share via the Share Link
A VoiceThread share link will take you directly to a specific VoiceThread. It will also open the VoiceThread in the mobile app if you are on an iOS or Android device. To obtain the share link for a VoiceThread, go to the Sharing Area.
Check your Publishing Options to allow anyone with the link to view or comment on your VoiceThread. Then click the Copy Link button to copy the link to your clipboard.
Once you have copied the link you may then paste the link in an email, in a myLesley Discussion, on a website, etc.
Share a VoiceThread in myLesley
myLesley VoiceThread Integration
The easiest and most efficient way for faculty to share VoiceThreads in myLesley is via the VoiceThread Integration. The VoiceThread LTI allows you to use VoiceThread directly within your course. You can link to your VoiceThread course view, an individual VoiceThread, the main VT Home page, or create a gradable VoiceThread assignment all from within your course.

Additional Sharing Options in myLesley
There are a few ways to share a VoiceThread in your myLesley course, including posting a link or embedding a VoiceThread. Go to Sharing a VoiceThread in your myLesley Course for detailed information.
Embed a VoiceThread
Embedding a VoiceThread into a website, blog, etc. will allow others to interact with your VoiceThread directly on the page. You may embed VoiceThread content anywhere that you are able to use HTML code.
Please note that we do not recommend embedding a VoiceThread in your myLesley course due to browser and privacy settings which may cause errors. If you do decide to embed a VoiceThread in your course, please also include a link to your VoiceThread to ensure that all users are able to access it. Please see Share a VoiceThread in Your myLesley Course for more information.
To obtain an embed code, to to the Sharing Area and click on the Embed tab at the top of the page (</>). Select your aspect ratio and size, then click Copy Code to copy the code to your clipboard.
Once you have copied the code you may embed the code in your website, blog, etc.
Share with Contacts
VoiceThread allows you to easily add contacts and securely share VoiceThreads with them. This secure method of sharing will also allow these users to add slides to your VoiceThread.
To share with Contacts, go to the Sharing Area and click on the Contacts button at the top of the page.
Create a New Contact
To create a new contact, click on the Add Contact button. You will then be prompted to enter your contact's name and email address.
Share with Contacts
To share with contacts, click on Contacts. Select the people with whom you would like to share and click Continue.
Next, select the permissions you want your contacts to have (view, comment, edit) and select whether or not you want your contacts to receive an email notification. Click Save at the bottom of the page to share your VoiceThread.
Share with a Group
You may easily share a VoiceThread with a VoiceThread Group or with individual members of a group. This secure method of sharing will also allow these users to add slides to your VoiceThread.

Please note that students do not have the ability to create VoiceThread groups, but can share with groups their instructor has created.
Sharing From the Group Page
Click on the sidebar on the left side of your VoiceThread home page and click the Groups tab. Here you will see a list of all of your groups. Select a group.
Once inside your group, click Add a VoiceThread in the top-right corner of the group page.
Click Select from my VoiceThreads to share a thread you already created or click Create a new VoiceThread to start building a new one.
Once you have selected or created your VoiceThread, click Share with Group. Next, select the permissions you want your group members to have (view, comment, edit). Click Save to share your VoiceThread with all members of your group.
Sharing with a Group from the Sharing Page
From the Sharing Area, click on the Contacts button at the top of the page. Click on the Groups button to see all of your Groups. Select a group name to share with all members of the group or select specific group members to share only with them.
Next, select the permissions you want your contacts to have (view, comment, edit) and select whether or not you want your contacts to receive an email notification. Click Save at the bottom of the page to share your VoiceThread.
Unsharing
After you have shared a VoiceThread you may change or revoke sharing access at any time. Go to the Sharing Area and click on the Contacts button at the top of the page.
Scroll down to the Shared With area to see who has access to your VoiceThread. Select the user or group you no longer wish to share with and click the current permission to the right of the person or group to open a menu. Select Revoke Access to remove access to your VoiceThread.
Click Save to save your changes.
