Instructions
Step 1: Log in to Experience.
- Go to Experience and if needed, login with your Lesley credentials.
Step 2: Access the course section in which the student is enrolled.
- The Alert Submission card will display a list of sections you are currently teaching. Select the course section in which the student is enrolled. If you get a message indicating "You do not have any assigned students." please reference this article: Alert System - You do not have any assigned students.
Please note:
Term is not included in the section data and the list will include sections that have started and sections that have ended within the last 20 days. If you teach the same course from one semester/term to the next, you may need to reference the roster to determine which section has the student(s) for whom you are filing an alert.
Cross-listed sections show separately, unlike myLesley where they are combined under the primary section.
Step 3: Select the student(s) and then click on Create Alert.
- Click the box next to the student's name(s) to select one or more students. Once you've made a selection, you will see a Create Alert button. Click on the Create Alert button.
If there is more than one student in this section with the same concern or distinction, you can select multiple students.
Step 4: Use the Select alert drop-down to select the Alert Type that is most applicable to the situation.
Step 5: Add Notes.
- In the Add Notes* box, add the note that you want the advisor to see. This may include conversations you've had with the student about the situation and/or support resources that you have suggested or are suggesting for the student. The only Alert notes shared directly with a student are for the Applause/Kudos Alert.
*Notes are limited to 1,000 characters. Visit this article Best Practices for Filing Alerts that includes guidelines for appropriate notes.
If you have selected more than one student, this note needs to be generic as it will be added to the individual alerts for all of the selected students. - Click on Review.
Step 6: Review and Submit Alert.
- Click on Back at any point to make corrections/adjustments.
- Click on Submit to file the Alert.
Once you have filed an alert, you will be copied on an email from adviseadmin@lesley.edu to the student's academic advisor informing them of the alert you've created.
Most Alerts generate an automated email to the student. Reference this document for the content of the alert-specific email communication. Alert Types and Email Communications
Step 7: Alert Follow-Up
You are encouraged to follow-up with advisors concerning the alert(s) you have filed. You can do this by replying to the alert notification email from adviseadmin@lesley.edu that is generated when you filed the alert, since it includes the advisor to whom the alert was routed. This lets the advisor know that students are or are not making progress.
