The Esports Computer Lounge and Research Lab is an advanced facility used for game design, sound design, VFX, and other technology-focused courses. With high-end gaming PCs, large displays, conferencing tech, and more, this lab provides students with cutting-edge tools to learn, experiment, and collaborate.
Computer Workstations
The lab contains 20 MSI Trident X (SFF) gaming desktops, each equipped with:
- Intel Core i9-11900K processor
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card
- 64GB RAM
- 2TB SSD + 2TB HDD storage
- WiFi 6E, USB-C, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity
- VR-Ready
- Windows 10 Professional
Popular software used includes Nuke ZBrush, Toonboom Harmony, Krotos, Reaper, and more. The lab is also designed to support gaming, with students playing popular games such as League of Legends and Valorant.
Displays and Conferencing
The lab features five 65" displays. They can be used individually or mirrored, enabling the same image to be projected on each display. There is also a large display for video conferencing and remote collaboration.
Hybrid Instruction
The Esports Computer Lounge and Research Lab supports student learning flexibility by providing a HyFlex option, which enables students to participate in courses remotely. This feature enhances student access to the lab's resources, even if they cannot be physically present on campus.
Student Organizations
The Lynx Lan Party, Lesley's student-run gaming club, holds weekly gatherings in the lab to practice, play, and create community amongst students. All students can reserve lab space through Lesley's 25Live room reservation system.
