Book Advances for Course Materials

Modified on Thu, Aug 27 at 1:48 PM

If you have a credit balance on your student account based on your current financial aid and enrollment, Lesley University will provide an advance of up to $500 for students in semester-based programs or up to $250 for term-based programs. The advance amount will be based on your credit balance as of September 1, 2026, and only students with federal financial aid who have a credit of $50 or greater will be eligible. You do not need to take any action to receive this advance.

The book advance is based on your current financial aid eligibility and enrollment. Please note that changes to your enrollment, including adding or withdrawing from courses, may change your costs and your financial aid eligibility and could result in a balance due to Lesley University, including the amount of your book advance.

If you have a credit balance on your account but you do not wish to receive the book advance and would prefer to wait until after the add/drop period for your student account refund, please contact Financial Aid by September 1 by submitting a ticket on the Support Hub or emailing help@lesley.edu. Indicate that you would like to opt out of the book advance.

If you choose to receive a book advance, you should use the funds to purchase books and required course materials through your preferred retailer. The book advance is not additional financial aid and does not increase your total financial aid eligibility.

If you have signed up for Direct Deposit prior to September 1, your advance will be transferred to the bank account you have provided. Otherwise, a check will be sent to your preferred address. Instructions to sign up for direct deposit can be found here.

If you have questions about your eligibility or your student account, please contact Financial Aid by submitting a ticket on the Support Hub.
