Add Your Kaltura Video to VoiceThread and Share the VoiceThread With Your Course

For Videos That Were Previously Uploaded to Kaltura


To begin, create a new VoiceThread. See Creating and Editing VoiceThreads for more information.


Click on the “Add Media” button. 




This will bring up a menu. Select Media Sources




This will bring up a list of media sources. Select Kaltura Media.




Your Kaltura Media videos will load. Select any video to insert it into your VoiceThread.


Once you have imported your video you may (optionally) add a VoiceThread comment. See Commenting on Videos for more information.


Next, you will need to share your video with your course. The easiest way to do this is via the Share Link.


To obtain a share link, go to the Sharing Area for your VoiceThread.



Click on the Basic tab. Click the Copy Link button to copy the link to your clipboard.




Once you have copied the link, go to myLesley and navigate to where you wish to share your VoiceThread (ex an Announcement, Discussion Board, blog, journal, etc.). Paste the link to your VoiceThread and then click the Insert/Edit Link button in the text/content editor.




This will open a new window. Enter your URL in the Link Path area. In the Target area, select Open in New Window. Click Insert to insert your link.




Your clickable link will be added to your myLesley course.






For New Videos (Have Not Previously Been Uploaded to Kaltura)


To begin, create a new VoiceThread. See Creating and Editing VoiceThreads for more information.


Once you have created your VoiceThread, you will be prompted to upload or import media to create your VoiceThread slides. There are two ways to add files from your computer to a VoiceThread:

  • Drag your files from your computer and drop them onto the Create page 
  • Click on Add Media and select My Computer. Select your files.


The files will upload and process, which may take several minutes. As soon as they are ready you will see them as thumbnails on your Create page.


While your VoiceThread is processing, the Thread Settings box will pop up. Enter a title for your VoiceThread and (optional) description and tags.



Once you have imported your video you may (optionally) add a VoiceThread comment. See Commenting on Videos for more information.


Next, you will need to share your video with your course. The easiest way to do this is via the Share Link.
