TABLE OF CONTENTS

Access Grades and Feedback

There are many places in the system that allow you to view your grades and instructor feedback. Get a heads-up about new grades in your Activity Stream, view grades for all of your courses in the Global Grades area, view all grades in a single course in your Course Gradebook, or select an item in your course to view its grade and instructor feedback.

Your graded items may display as a letter, points, or percentage, depending on your instructor's preference.

For the colored grade pills, the highest score range is green and the lowest is red. The colors map to these percentages:

  • > 90% = green
  • 89–80% = yellow/green
  • 79–70% = yellow
  • 69–60% = orange
  • >59% = red

For more information, watch the Check Grades tutorial video.

View Grades in the Activity Stream

From the base navigation, click on the Activity link in the menu. This will bring you to the Activity Stream, where you can view notifications for newly graded items, past due assignments, upcoming events and due dates, and other announcements and activity from your courses and organizations. You may filter or select which activities appear on the Activity Stream via your Notification Settings.

Newly graded items will appear in your Activity Stream along with instructor feedback. Click View my Grade to view your grade. To view additional details and feedback, including rubric scores, feedback, and more, click on the item's title to open the Course Gradebook.

For more information, refer to the Activity Stream video tutorial.

View All Grades in the Global Gradebook

From the base navigation, click on the Grades link in the menu. This will bring you to the Global Gradebook. The Global Gradebook displays all grading information across all of your courses. Courses are organized in alphabetical order.

Locate a course to view recently graded items, upcoming assignments, and overall grade for each course. Click on the course title to go to that course's Gradebook. Or click on a graded item to view your grade and feedback.

When you click on a graded item you will see that item's Details & Information. Click on your grade to view your submission and any instructor feedback.

View Grades in your Course Gradebook

From within a course, you may access the Course Gradebook by selecting it from the Course Tools at the top of the page.

At the top of the page you will see your Overall Grade. Your Overall Grade is your current grade in the course.

The gradebook contains the following columns:

  • Item Name: This is the name of the gradable item. Click the item's name to view its details, including instructions, due date, rubric, etc.
  • Due Date: If your instructor assigned due dates, they will be visible in this column.
  • Status: This column displays the status of your submission.
  • Grade: This column displays your grade.
  • Feedback: This icon indicates that your instructor provided you with feedback. Click the Feedback icon to view your instructor's feedback.

Click on the Item Name to view its Details & Information. Click on your grade to view your submission and any instructor feedback.

View Assignment Grades and Feedback

Your instructor will post your Assignment grade once grading is complete, or they will release all grades at one time to the entire class. Depending on your Notification Settings, you may receive a notification in your Activity Stream or your email when content has been graded.

For more information, watch the Review Assignment Feedback tutorial video.

View Assignment Grades

You may access your Assignment grades and feedback from your Activity Stream, your Global Grades area, your Course Gradebook, or directly from your Course Content

Click on your Assignment to open the Details & Information and view your grade. Click on your grade to view your instructor's feedback.

Once you open your submission, you will be able to review your submission, your grade, the completed grading rubric (if used) and any feedback your instructor provided.

At the top of the page you will see your Final Grade for the assignment as well as the grade for the Attempt. If you have multiple Attempts (i.e. submitted multiple versions of your assignment) you may select your attempt to view your grades and feedback. You may also download a copy of your original submission by clicking the Download button.

View Assignment Feedback

Your instructor may provide feedback in multiple ways or in multiple areas.

Attempt Feedback

Your instructor may provide feedback in the Attempt Feedback area. Feedback entered here will appear in your Activity Stream and tends to serve as overall feedback for your submission. Your instructor may include different types of feedback, including text, audio/video, attachments, and more. Click on an attached file to download it.

Inline Grading and Feedback (Bb Annotate)

If your instructor used the Inline Grading tool (Bb Annotate), you may view notes and comments within your submission. Use the tools at the top of the Bb Annotate window to navigate.

  • Sidebar: View Thumbnail, Outline, Annotation, or Bookmark views of the submission.
  • Pages: Use the arrows to jump to different pages in the submission.
  • Pan: Move the submission on the page.
  • Zoom and Fit: Zoom in and out of the submission or adjust the view to fit the page, fit the width, or select the best fit.
  • Print or Download: Print or download an annotated copy of your submission (the file will download as a PDF).
  • Search: Search the submission for specific text.

If your instructor added annotations, notes, or highlights you may view them in the Annotate Viewer.

If you download a copy of your annotated submission, be sure to open it in a native PDF viewer, such as Adobe Acrobat. There is a known issue with most browsers' built-in PDF viewers that will not render the annotations, thus not allowing you to view the feedback.

View Rubrics and Feedback

If your instructor used a rubric to grade your assignment, you may view the grading rubric as well as any specific feedback your instructor provided.

View Test Grades and Feedback

Depending on the type of test questions and the settings your instructor chose, your test may be scored immediately or you may have to wait until your instructor posts the test scores for the entire class. Depending on your Notification Settings, you may receive a notification in your Activity Stream or your email when content has been graded.

You may access your Test grades and assessment results from your Activity Stream, your Global Grades area, your Course Gradebook, or directly from your Course Content.

Click on your Test to open the Details & Information and view your grade. Click on your grade to view your grade and assessment results.

After your test has been graded, you can view your score and any feedback. Your instructor will decide if or when you can view additional assessment results, such as question scores and correct answers.

For more information, watch the Test Review and Feedback tutorial video.

View Discussion Grades and Feedback

If your Discussions are graded, your instructor will post your Discussion grade once grading is complete or release the grades all at once. Depending on your Notification Settings, you may receive a notification in your Activity Stream or your email when content has been graded.

You may access your Discussion grades and feedback from your Activity Stream, your Global Grades area, your Course Gradebook, the Discussions tab in the course navigation menu, or directly from your Course Content.

Click on the Discussion to open it. Your grade will be visible in the Details & Actions area.

If your instructor provided feedback, click on the Feedback icon to view it.

If your instructor used a rubric to grade your discussion, you may view the grading rubric as well as any specific feedback your instructor provided. Click your grade to open the grading rubric.

For more information, refer to the View Discussion Grades support article.
