MBTA Student Discount Program

Modified on Wed, Sep 17 at 10:58 AM

Lesley University is located in the heart of Cambridge, an urban environment where public transportation is a key part of daily life. Whether you’re commuting from nearby neighborhoods, exploring Boston, or traveling across the region, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) makes it easy to get where you need to go. To support students, Lesley partners with the MBTA to offer discounted semester passes, helping you save money while staying connected to all that Greater Boston has to offer.

Discount Details

  • Students receive a discount off the regular monthly pass price through the MBTA’s Student Semester Pass program.

  • Passes are only sold through Lesley University twice a year:

    • In August for the Fall Semester (September–December)

    • In November for the Spring Semester (January–May)

  • ⚠️ Important: Passes must be purchased by the posted deadline. If you miss the deadline, you cannot buy a discounted pass until the next semester. The MBTA does not allow late orders.

? Reminder: The discounted MBTA passes are only available for purchase through Lesley during these two sales periods each year. Plan ahead and order on time.

How to Use the MBTA

The MBTA provides multiple transit options to get around the Greater Boston area:

  • Subway (the “T”): Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines.

  • Commuter Rail: Connects Boston with suburbs and regional areas.

  • Bus & Silver Line: Serves local routes and Logan Airport.

  • Ferry: Runs between downtown Boston and several coastal towns.

Students can find route maps, schedules, and trip planning tools here:
