Sabbatical Applications

Apply for a sabbatical using the Sabbatical Application form. Your application is due to your supervisor by October 1.

The FLD Committee reviews applications in November. It sends its recommendations to the Provost by December 1. The Provost makes all final sabbatical decisions.

Faculty Grants

The FLD Committee offers several grants throughout the academic year. Apply for any of them using the Faculty Grant Application form. Choose the grant type from the drop-down menu on the form.

Mini-Grants

Mini-Grants provide up to $400 for activities during the fall or spring term.

  • Fall term applications are due September 15.
  • Spring term applications are due February 15.

Conference Grants

Conference Grants provide up to $800 for presenting at a conference. The new procedure for AY 2026-2027 is to apply once you have a presentation confirmation in hand, regardless of when you are presenting.

There are five application rounds each year. Applications are due on the 15th of:

  • September (Round 1)
  • November (Round 2)
  • February (Round 3)
  • April (Round 4)
  • May (Round 5)

Award notifications go out about two weeks after each due date.

Second-chance round: The May round (Round 5) also lets you reapply for conference funding you didn't receive earlier in the year. This includes requests that were only partly funded.

Attending without presenting: The FLD Committee no longer funds conference attendance alone. That option began as a response to COVID-19. You can still use your individual Professional Development funds to attend a conference without presenting.

Faculty Development Grants

Faculty Development Grants provide up to $5,000 for projects during FY 2028. They aren't meant to cover conference travel. Applications are due March 1.

Reports

Submit all of the reports below in Faculty Success.

Annual Faculty Reports

Annual Faculty Reports are due September 15.

Sabbatical Reports

Sabbatical Reports are due November 1. If you were on sabbatical for all of AY 2025-2026 or spring 2026, you should have received an invitation from Faculty Success by September 15. The invitation gives you access to the report form.

Faculty Development Grant and Mini-Grant Reports

For AY 2026-2027, these reports are due October 15. The usual due date is September 15. The deadline was extended by one month this academic year because of the new report collection process in Faculty Success.

If you received a Faculty Development Grant in spring 2025 or a Mini-Grant in spring 2026, you should have received an invitation from Faculty Success by September 15. The invitation gives you access to the report form.
