Mindfulness is the awareness that arises by paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without self-judgment. Practicing mindfulness has many benefits, including reducing stress, improving mental well-being, and enhancing focus and self-awareness.
We are fortunate to be able to offer audio recordings created by April Neufeld, a LUCC Mindfulness Intern from Fall 2023. You can listen to the mindfulness practices here:
Session 1: Anchors of Awareness Practice
This session focuses on building the practice of anchoring awareness in meditation.
Session 2: Internal Rhythms Practice
This session focuses on tuning into the internal rhythms of the body.
Session 3: Here and Now Stone Practice
This practice focuses on the sensory experience of everyday activities or objects. In this example, we use a stone, but you can use any object.
Session 4: Mindfulness of Tea Practice
This practice focuses on the sensory experience of making and drinking tea, but coffee or any other beverage can be used.
Session 5: Mindful Movement Practice
This session focuses on movement as the object of awareness. The practice can be done seated.
This session focuses on the sensations and experiences of the body through a body scan.
Session 7: Loving-Kindness for Self and Others Practice
This session focuses on giving kindness and compassion to oneself and others.
Session 8: Energy of Emotions Practice
This session focuses on being with the changing nature of emotions.
Session 9: Gratitude and Appreciation Practice
This session focuses on gratitude and appreciation for oneself and others.
