Directions for Students and then Faculty.

In the Assignments Workspace, for Students:

In the Assignments Workspace, the "Make Changes" button will appear as an option to students only after they have first submitted the assignment. Then,

If the class is still in session:

If no other users have interacted with the assignment (they haven't reviewed, signed or approved it), the student will:

  1. Click Make Changes.
  2. The status of the assignment will change to "In Process".
  3. And the student will be allowed to modify the assignment and resubmit it when they are ready.
    • If the assignment is a report, you will need to open the report assignment and click "Start Over" to generate a new report and resubmit it for signatures.

If other users have reviewed, signed, or approved the assignment, the student will:

  1. Click Make Changes.
  2. Click "Yes" on the following warning message:
  3. Complete the "Request re-submission" form (below) in which they select the recipient of the request (usually the faculty that supervises the class) and enter the reason they are making the request.
  4. If the faculty member approves the request, the student will be notified, the assignment will return to a status of "In Process", and any signatures on the assignment will be removed so the student can make changes and resubmit.
    • If the assignment is a report, you will need to open the report assignment and click "Start Over" to generate a new report and resubmit it for signatures.

For Faculty and Administrators:

When students request to resubmit an assignment, the recipients (limited to faculty and admin staff) can either respond through the message in the Comms Hub, OR they respond from the assignments grid itself.

To respond from the Comms Hub:

  1. The recipient will receive a message asking them to Unlock the student's assignment.
  2. Inside the message, click the attachment under Related Records/Documents.
  3. In the window that opens, you will see the student's request.
  4. Enter a message in the Reply field (this is optional).
  5. Click Approve or Reject.

To respond from the Assignment Grid

  1. Look for the red triangle icon in the assignment grid. This is a signal that a student has asked to make changes to the given assignment.
  2. Click on the assignment status.
  3. Then click the "open" button in the assignment tile.
  4. The system will open the assignment and you will see the student's request.
  5. Enter a message in the Reply field (this is optional).
  6. Click Approve or Reject.

The Make Changes button isn't appearing on one of my student's assignments. Why not? The feature only appears on assignments that are About and Completed by the "Student/Assignee". Also, the feature does not appear after the class end date.
