About the Integration
The VoiceThread LTI allows you to use VoiceThread directly within your course. You can link to your VoiceThread course view, an individual VoiceThread, the main VT Home page, or create a VoiceThread assignment all from within your course.
Create a VoiceThread Activity
The first step in using the VoiceThread integration is to create the VoiceThread activity in myLesley/Blackboard. Locate the place in your course where you would like to insert your VoiceThread activity. At the top of the page, click Build Content to open a menu. Then select VoiceThread.
This will launch the VoiceThread Setup Page. You will then be prompted to select the type of VoiceThread activity you wish to use:
- Course View
- Individual VoiceThread
- VT Home Page
- Assignment Builder
Creating Non-Graded VoiceThread Activities
The VoiceThread/Backboard integration offers three types of non-graded options. These do not tie in to the myLesley Grade Center and do not require you to enter a grade.
Course View
The Course View option allows you to display the collection of VoiceThreads that have been shared with your course group. Anything that has not yet been explicitly shared with your course will not appear here.
This is a good option when you want to share a collection of VoiceThreads with your students, including student-created VoiceThreads or projects.
Individual VoiceThread
The Individual VoiceThread option allows you to display any VoiceThread that you have created. When students click on the link, they’ll see just this one VoiceThread that you have selected.
This is a good option when you want students to view just one single VoiceThread or have a class VoiceThread discussion on a single VoiceThread.
VT Home Page
The VT Home Page option creates a portal to the VoiceThread Home Page. It will display all of a student’s VoiceThread content in a single view. This includes all VoiceThreads and all courses that belong to them.
This option is useful if you want to create a simple portal into VoiceThread without directing students to any specific content. It replaces adding a link to http://lesley.voicethread.com.
Creating Graded VoiceThread Assignments
VoiceThread assignments allow you to create different types of VoiceThread assignments right in myLesley/Blackboard. These assignments tie in to the myLesley Grade Center.
Create a VoiceThread
The Create assignment requires students to create a their own VoiceThread. Students will upload the slides, record comments, and submit the VoiceThread for grading. The instructor can also allow students to see their classmates’ submissions later so they can engage in peer review and conversation. This type of assignment is great for presentations, demonstration of a skill.

Comment on a VoiceThread
The Comment assignment requires students to post comments on a VoiceThread that the instructor has created. The instructor can decide whether or not students can see each other's comments. This type of assignment is great for discussions, language practice, quizzes, and more.
