Getting Started with Workday

Modified on Tue, 05 Mar 2024 at 12:42 PM

Introducing Workday, our unified Human Resources and Payroll system. Workday is a self-service tool where all employees, including faculty, professional staff, and student employees (with campus jobs) can view and manage personal information, make changes to tax, payroll, and benefit elections.

Navigating the Home Page

The Home page displays various worklets that help a colleague view and manage their information, as well as accessing tasks that may require your attention. Your Home page view is based on your role in the organization.

Your Top Apps

On the right hand side of the Home page, you will find Your Top Apps. The apps that appear here start out as a default but will update over time, based on your usage patterns. You can still access all apps by selecting View All Apps.

Configuring your Apps

Click the Menu button in the upper left corner next to the Lesley University logo on your homepage to explore all Apps.

The App display can be customized by adding additional apps or editing the order. On the bottom of the screen you can click either the Add Apps or Edit actions to make changes.

Save your changes when you are done.

Awaiting Your Action

Workday Inbox

Depending on your role with Lesley you will have tasks in your Workday inbox to complete. Managers and Department Designees may have more tasks than a typical employee.

Your most recent tasks will show on your Workday home page. If you have more tasks needing to be completed, click Go to All Inbox Items and you will be directed to your inbox.

Review the details of each task and read any instructional text.

Once you review the task, click Submit only after reviewing instructions and taking the appropriate action.

If a task requires approvals or additional steps, Workday will tell you who is up next. If your task is completed, you will see a green check mark. Once completed, the task should be removed from your inbox.

Canceling, Correcting, or Skipping a Task

Some tasks can be skipped or cancelled. These situations are rare and typically occur when a task is started by you in error.

Click on the task and you will be directed to your inbox. On the top right corner of the task you will see various actions you can take on the task. Click the Gear icon.

From the drop-down list, choose the appropriate action.

Please be sure to provide a reason if necessary.
