What Public Safety does
Public Safety officers patrol campus buildings and areas, monitor campus activity, respond to alarms, inspect lighting, conduct fire watches, and help maintain safety and order. Officers use two-way radio communications and remain in contact with the Public Safety Office while on patrol.
-
Safety patrol
Officers continually patrol all campus buildings and areas, seven days per week, to maintain safety and order.
-
Emergency response
Officers are trained to respond to criminal, medical, fire, and other emergencies. They maintain control of the emergency scene, administer CPR or first aid as needed, coordinate with emergency response agencies, and guide response teams to the emergency location.
-
Safety escort
Escorts are available to students, faculty, and staff upon request, pending officer availability. Call Public Safety to request an escort. An officer will meet you at a predetermined location and accompany you to your destination within campus boundaries.
-
Personal safety alarms
Personal safety alarms are available as an alternative to an officer escort. The alarms emit a 130-decibel signal that may deter a potential aggressor and draw attention to the situation. They may be signed out from the Public Safety Office on the Main Campus at any time.

Annual security report
Under the Clery Act, colleges and universities must maintain and report crime statistics for the three prior calendar years. Lesley’s annual security report includes statistics for on-campus locations, residence halls, non-campus property, nearby public property, and fires.
The 2026 report was compiled by the Lesley Public Safety Department with assistance from local police departments. Statistics are compiled using Uniform Crime Reporting System terms defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
To request a copy of the current annual security report, contact Public Safety at 617.349.8888 or publicsafety@lesley.edu.
