Lesley students currently study abroad in collaboration with a Provider Program. Our network of outside providers offers programs at many universities and field-based locations across the globe. Each provider offers multiple programs in a wide range of countries for full semesters, during the summer, and shorter terms, such as January.
Other Things to Know about Provider Programs:
Finances
- You’ll pay the provider educational fees, not Lesley University.
- With a provider program you can use your state and federal aid, but not your Lesley scholarships.
Courses
- We encourage students to take courses that fulfill free elective or general education requirements, rather than major requirements. Please discuss your course plan with your academic advisor.
A sample of the providers we work with include:
- EF Tours (Local rep: Mitch Haddad, mitch.haddad@ef.com)
- American Programs International (API)
- American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)
- The Education Abroad Network (TEAN)
- Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
- School for International Training (SIT)
What You Need to Do to Study Abroad:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Research Provider Programs and study abroad destinations that match your interests.
- Check in with your Academic Advisor about your course progression and graduation plan.
- Check in with your financial support team (loan provider, etc.) about the costs of studying abroad.
- Apply to the school abroad that you’ve chosen through the Provider Program.
- Choose courses with your advisor in the school abroad.
- Together with your Lesley Academic Advisor, complete the consortium agreement.
- Once you return from study abroad, submit your transcript from your school abroad to Lesley by emailing records@lesley.edu, so that your courses can count towards requirements and graduation.
When you decide which program you are thinking of joining, please book an appointment with your academic advisor. If you don't know who your advisor is, you can find your assigned advisor on Self-Service.
