Broken Wiki Links

Modified on Wed, Oct 28, 2015 at 3:56 PM

A recent myLesley update may have caused links to course wikis to become corrupted. When clicking on a link to a wiki the following message appears:

Error: Broken Course Link: Item does not exist in the system. The specified object was not found.

Currently, the only solution is to delete the link to the wiki and recreate it.

Deleting the Corrupt Wiki Link

First, you will need to delete the corrupt wiki link.

Removing Items from the Course Menu

Select the item you wish to remove. Hover your mouse over it until a chevron appears to the right.

Click the chevron to open a menu.

Rename Link will allow you to rename your item.

Hide Link will allow you to hide the link from your students. You will still be able to access the link.

Delete will remove the link (and any associated content) from the course. You will be asked to confirm deletion.

Click Delete to remove your wiki link. You will then be able to create a new link.

Removing Items from a Content Area

Select the item you wish to remove. Hover your mouse over it until a chevron appears to the right.

Click the chevron to open a menu.

Click Delete to remove your wiki link. You will then be able to create a new link.

Creating  a New Wiki Link

Once you have removed the corrupt wiki link, create a new link to your wiki(s).

Adding a Link to the Wiki on the Course Menu

You may add a link to any of the wiki (or any course tools) directly in the course menu.

To create a link to the wiki directly from the Course Menu, click the Add Menu Item (+) button at the top of the course menu.

Select Tool Link.

Enter a name for your link. In the Type area, select Wikis. Check the box to make the item available and click Submit.

Adding a Link to the Wiki from Within a Content Area

To link to the blog from within a Content Area, navigate to the content area. Click the Tools button at the top of the page and select Wikis.

Select whether you wish to link to the Wikis Page or link to a specific wiki. Or, to create a new wiki, click Create New Wiki.

Click Submit.
