Overview

By default, when you allow others to comment on your VoiceThread, they also have permission to add slides of their own. Contributors only have the ability to add/delete their comments or slides - they cannot otherwise edit the VoiceThread, alter anyone else's slides, or delete the VoiceThread.

More information may be found in the tutorial video

Adding a Slide to a VoiceThread

To add a slide to a VoiceThread, open the VoiceThread and click on the postcard icon at the bottom of the VoiceThread to see all slides.

You will see a thumbnail image of all of the slides. Click on the plus (+) button to create a new slide.

You will have the option to upload a file, record an audio slide, or record a video slide. Upload your file or record your slide. VoiceThread allows you to upload multiple types of files, including images, videos, presentations, and more. For more information on the file types that work best with VoiceThread, see File Types Accepted.

Once you have added your slide a window will pop up with a preview of your slide. Give your slide a title and click Save.

Your slide will be added to the VoiceThread. Click on your slide to add comments. See Commenting on VoiceThreads for instructions.

All work is saved automatically.

Enabling/Disabling

To enable or disable this feature, go to your VoiceThread and select click on the menu on the top left-hand side of the page.

This will open a menu. Select Edit.

This will bring you into the edit area for your VoiceThread. Click on the Options button in the top right-hand corner.

This will open a menu. Select Playback Settings.

To allow commenters to add a slide, check the box for Allow commenters to add slides to this VoiceThread. To disable this feature, uncheck the box.

Click Save to save your changes.
